Youth Sub-Committee
Mission
To address the needs of Marin Children and Teens with ASD and their families by Inspiring and Fostering Awareness, Change and Development in the systems that serve them.
Long-Term Goals
The Youth Sub-Committee is working together to address the following priorities:
1) Improve the health and safety of children with ASD with a focus on developing training for first responders.
2) Support the education system with a focus on recruiting personnel with ASD expertise and/or providing training opportunities for education professionals. The Youth Sub-committee has developed a Resource Guide of Professional Training Opportunities in ASD for use by educators and professionals.
3) Support families of school-age children by focusing on training respite care providers and increasing the pool of trained respite/child care providers.
4) Support children with ASD with social opportunities.
Short-Term Objectives and Activities
These short-term goals were developed from the priorities identified.
1) Create a 101 training program for school district personnel to use at the time of hire or at teacher meetings throughout the school year.
2) Identify additional child care worker resources and offer training in ASD.
3) Provide physicians information about MAC and the Resource Directory.
Meetings
Join us for the next sub-committee meeting and help us make a difference in the lives of children with ASD. The Youth Sub-Committee meets monthly during the academic year at the California Auto Association Building at 99 Smith Ranch Road, San Rafael, CA. Please check the MAC calendar for upcoming meeting times.

The Marin Autism Collaborative (MAC) came together to identify and address the service needs of all ages of individuals on the autistic spectrum and their families. Our members include family members, service agencies, educators, non-profit organizations, medical and therapeutic professionals, and government organizations.
